Joanna Jeffries - Dancer
I was born in North Berwick in 1982 then moved to Edinburgh when I was 6. I started dancing at the age of 7 and loved every minute of it, taking ballet and tap classes and dancing in shows. When leaving school, I was all set to study Physics at St Andrews University but then somebody suggested I should train as a dancer so I went instead to Liverpool where I sang, danced and acted my way to a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts. Since then I’ve been working mainly as a contemporary dancer but now I’m dusting down the old vocal chords to sing with Fischy Music - and it’s great!
What is the most embarrassing song in your CD or iPod collection? Michael Bolton ‘Soul Provider’
Where do you like singing most? On my bicycle on a nice country ride where I can sing at the top of my voice and not disturb anyone!
What is your idea of musical heaven? Dancing all night at a ceilidh - with breaks in between to drink wine, of course
What is your idea of musical hell? Kenny G does Musical Theatre covers
Which instrument do you wish you could play? Flute.
Which instrument are you most glad that you don’t play? Double Bass -I’m way too small for it!
Favourite song from primary school? ‘Autumn Days’
Last song you cried to? ‘I Know You By Heart’, Eva Cassidy
Last song you danced to? A bunch of Jim Brickman piano solos to cool down after a dance rehearsal
Person you would most like to perform with? My sister, who’s also a dancer
Joanna Jeffries
