Stephen
often complains about going bald, so Suzanne lent
him some of her hair!

You'd look serious
too, if you were about to sing to 10 000 people at
Greenbelt Festival...

This month's questions are asked by Fiona Roy, who's
10 and lives in Edinburgh.
Fiona:
What age were you when you started doing Fischy Music?
Stephen: My first
ever recording "It's a Noisy World" was made
in 1995 and this was when Fischy Music appeared on anything.
Er yes, my age, I was 35.
Fiona: When did
you become a Christian?
Stephen: I'm
not really sure exactly when, but I decided that Jesus
was worth following when I was about 18.
Fiona: At school,
were you ever bullied?
Stephen: I think
that most of the bullying that happened to me was not
the 'getting hit' kind, but more not being allowed to
join in some games or being kept out of certain groups.
Fiona: When did
you first meet Suzanne and Ken?
Stephen: I
met Suzanne for the first time at Carberry Towers in
1995 during a Festival, and she was still at school
then. She played the fiddle in a wee group I was leading.
I met Ken in London at the first ever Fischy Concert
in 1998, organised by good friends of mine.
Fiona:
Is the reason you sing mostly
for kids because you like
children?
Stephen:
I think that I am probably
a big child myself, so that's why I get on so well with
children and want to work with them!
Fiona:
Is it easy to sing about bullying
and everything that you sing about?
Stephen:
Most of my songs I find
quite easy to sing, but I don't find 'Tears Falling'
a very easy song to sing as it is about families having
a really hard time and it often makes people quite upset.
The other song I find hard to sing is 'These are my
Friends', as I keep forgetting the words!
Fiona:
When is your next CD coming out?
Stephen:
I'm still recovering from
the last one, but I have already started working on
the next one which I hope will come out in a couple
of years. I might have one or two songs recorded by
next year.
Fiona:
Do you all ever travel places
and sing?
Stephen:
We
do quite a lot of travelling, mostly around Scotland,
but we have quite a lot of stuff coming up next year
in England and Belgium. I am still waiting to get an
invite to sing on the beach in the Bahamas!
If
you want to ask some questions yourself, email
or write to us. It could be you on this page next month!
