School Events

Our regular work is in schools and material fits extremely well within the Curriculum for Excellence (Health and Wellbeing) in Scotland and PSHE education in England. Our visits work particularly well if you are learning about a particular theme e.g during health or anti-bullying weeks.

Workshop days

DSC_0230Our workshop days consist of 3 x 45-minute workshops in the morning for up to 70 children in each workshop group and a one-hour concert for the whole school in the afternoon. These can cover general health and wellbeing themes or be angled for a specific focus such as anti-bullying or health week. We also offer a ‘Christmas Workshop day’ with the above format. Christmas Concert FlyerSchool day flyer,

We also write songs with groups of up to 30 children. Every part of the proFischy song writing 005 (2) (500x375)cess from choosing a vibe, finding a tune and writing the lyrics to recording the children’s voices can be done in the classroom. We generally allow 2 days for the process and end with a concert for the whole school to celebrate the new song. We generally allow 5 sessions per class for the process and end with a concert for the whole school to celebrate the new song. You can also invite parents and carers to the concert.

Twilight Teacher Training

IMG_3394 (500x333)Twilight teacher training can be added at the end of the day for a small extra charge. The session lasts 60-90 minutes and equips teachers with the confidence to use Fischy resources in assemblies and the classroom to support the health and wellbeing curriculum. Our training is suitable for all teachers, regardless of musical confidence or expertise.

What people say about our school events

Fischy at Parkhead primary 001 (500x375)“The use of Fischy’s resources in the area of PSE adds another dimension to the teachers’ and school’s repertoire. When you add the fact that the children not only enjoy the music but also relate to the message then you will understand the power in this approach”. (Inverclyde Education Services)

“You managed to develop in five minutes what many of us take weeks to get across through our PSD lessons. Your music is cool in the eyes of the children and they love its catchiness” (John, Teacher)

“Some people did not want to sing but you cheered them up with your songs and made them laugh.” (P6 in Fife)

“Best song in the world – totally cool”. (P7 in Edinburgh)

“I’ve been here 21 years and that was the best thing I’ve ever seen!” (Teacher at the end of a Fischy Music Workshop day)
