Scottish Children Unite in New Anthem Video to Cheer on the Scotland Football Team

Wednesday, 10 June 2026

Over 2,000 school children from across Scotland have come together to create a powerful new video performance of We’re the Land of Scots – the uplifting Scottish National Anthem for children we launched last year – to cheer on the Scotland National Football Team at the World Cup!

Pupils from Fife, Glasgow, Edinburgh, West Lothian, North Lanarkshire, Perth, Aberdeen, the Scottish Borders, and as far north as Canisbay have donned their Scotland football tops and recorded their own versions of the song, contributing to a nationwide video filled with pride, humour and a strong sense of belonging. With the lyric cheering at the football, the anthem has become the perfect rallying cry for young supporters across the country.

We’re the Land of Scots was launched last November, when more than 32,000 children joined our national Big Sing Online Concert to premiere the song as part of St Andrew’s Day celebrations. The idea for the song came directly from children, who repeatedly asked us to “write a song about being Scottish”.

Now, with the World Cup approaching, children are once again embracing the anthem – this time to send their support to the national team.

Teachers and pupils have shared their enthusiasm:

“My class love We’re the Land of Scots and sing it loud and proud.”
- Buckhaven Primary School
“Scotland’s a home for everyone.”
- P7 pupil
“Good luck in all your (World Cup) matches! This song’s for you.”
- P6 pupil
“The song has quickly become an absolute favourite at our school assemblies.”
- Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School

A Nationwide Boost for the Team
We hope the new video will give the Scotland football team a big boost and shine a light on the huge wave of support coming from children across Scotland.

The video was released on Wednesday 10 June at 10am, with every primary school in Scotland invited to watch it and sing along together during the Fischy Music ‘Sports’ Online Concert on Friday 19 June – a 30-minute celebration of sports focusing on the Commonwealth Games and World Cup, featuring feel-good songs including favourites Stronger and You Are an Inspiration. It's completely free to take part, but teachers need to register their class or whole school: Book now: SCOTLAND Summer Sports Day Online Concert: Friday 19 June, 11am

Thanks to National Lottery players, Fischy Music has received £2,625 from National Lottery Awards for All in celebration of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
